Plane Carrying US Defense Secretary Required to Touch Down in UK Due to Crack in Windshield
An aircraft ferrying the US defense secretary was forced to make an unplanned landing in the UK on Wednesday following a fracture was identified in the aircraft's cockpit window, according to an official announcement which confirmed that Hegseth was safe.
"The jet landed following standard procedures and all individuals on the flight, among them Secretary Hegseth, is unharmed," a spokesperson stated in a online announcement.
He was traveling back from a quick journey to Brussels at the time.
This event does not mark the first time that a American defense plane transporting a top government figure has encountered equipment failures.
Earlier this year, a United States Air Force aircraft carrying Secretary of State Marco Rubio to Munich was required to turn back to Washington DC after encountering a mechanical problem.
