Discover Twenty-Nine New Game Cards from Magic's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Set (Featuring a Commander-Style Precon Deck!)
The world's beloved pizza-loving heroes are arriving to the popular trading card game. The well-known trading card game's publisher, the game's creators, announced a much-awaited Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collaboration at a exclusive panel hosted at NYCC. Is this a radical new set or yet another Universes Beyond cash grab? Let you decide.
Take a look below at everything revealed from the Magic x Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set, along with key context. All items listed below launches on March 6, 2026, with one exception — the Pizza Bundle drops a couple of weeks after on March 27th.
Magic x TMNT: Core Set Reveals
Before diving into the many special decks and collections on offer, let’s take a look at the full lineup from the core Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set unveiled by Wizards. Play boosters for the expansion are priced at $6.99 each, while premium boosters are priced at $37.99 per pack.
Let’s explore a few surprising details. To begin, a new gameplay mechanic named Sneak, inspired by the pre-existing Ninjutsu ability, in which players can play big creatures into the battlefield whenever an attacking creature isn’t blocked. The big difference here is that this new ability can affect spells that aren’t creatures as well. The designers also took the opportunity to refine the mechanic a little (Sneak counts as playing a spell, unlike Ninjutsu). Ninjutsu isn't going away, but chances are players will encounter Sneak in future sets moving forward.
“If we ever were to return to Kamigawa, it’s possible we’d use Ninjutsu because that plane is it was developed and it’s a hallmark of that world,” a senior designer stated. “But on other planes, since the mechanics are smoother and the new ability will be in standard, it's more likely that we'd use the updated version.”
Another version of Leonardo, Sewer Samurai card, is one of four cards with unique artwork designed specifically for the expansion by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles original artist the co-creator.
Additionally, if you're shocked by the card text on Turtles Forever, which lets you play game cards that aren't in your main deck, so was I. But as per Wizards, that's now a official card in every format of Magic.
Anyway, below are the highly unusual full-art lands from this set:
Following Wizards of the Coast's existing guidelines, these cards are fully legal in Magic’s Standard play. Developers state they were careful to ensure the cards and gameplay elements worked smoothly with other Standard sets like Edge of Eternities.
“I headed the design for 15 months and we knew it was going to be Standard-legal and which sets would be near it in standard,” a lead designer commented. “We designed to ensure that they work well with some of those sets including Edge of Eternities.”
As an instance, both TMNT and Edge of Eternities feature a Izzet strategy built around artifact cards.
“They mesh together to provide the components for a enjoyable Standard deck,” he added.
Commander Deck: Turtle Power
After declining to design any pre-constructed Commander decks for the Spider-Man set and the upcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender expansions, the company is reversing course with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. This time it’s just a single precon, but it does come with six different legendary cards that can serve as your commander based on how you pair them (five cards include a unique partner ability named “Character Select” that lets you start with two commanders in the command zone instead of only one). Check them out for yourself:
The Turtle Power precon is priced at $69.99, though the price may rise due to demand. Sources indicated that it contains 43 brand-new cards altogether, which translates to an extra 37 Turtle-themed game cards besides the six legendary commanders shown above. (Calculating roughly, that also means about 20 reprinted cards if we estimate the precon includes 37 land cards.)
What will the TMNT edition of the iconic Sol Ring look like? We’ll just have to wait and see.
TMNT Bundle (Regular)
Typically, the company is selling a bundle. This one costs $69.99 and contains the following:
- Nine Play Boosters
- Fifteen Foil land cards
- Fifteen Non-foil land cards
- 2 Reference cards
- 1 Traditional foil promo card
- 1 Large life tracker
- One storage box
Pizza Bundle
Here’s a unique concept for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set, primarily because it is packaged in a box resembling a pizza delivery box. Every pizza-themed bundle costs $99.99 and includes the following:
- 9 Play Boosters
- One Premium Booster
- 25 Non-foil pizza lands
- Five Foil pizza basic lands
- Two Foil Pizza Bundle promotional cards
- Two Reference cards
- 1 Oversized life tracker
- One storage box
For those curious what a “pizza bundle promo” is, it’s essentially a reprinted older card featuring all-new Turtle-themed artwork. Wizards showed an example for the well-known Magic card Dark Ritual featuring art of Splinter sprinkling toppings on a pizza slice. In total, there are six different pizza promos available.
The Pizza Bundle releases a few weeks after the main set on March 27, 2026.
Draft Bundle
This special bundle is designed for a four-person draft and costs $119.99. That will get you:
- Twelve Play Boosters (ideal for a group of four to draft)
- One Collector Booster (also known as, the reward for coming in first)
- Ninety Regular basic lands (to build your draft deck)
- Ten Non-foil double-sided tokens
- One Draft insert (a one-sheet guide to drafting this expansion)
Turtle Team-Up
Lastly, Wizards are doing something new with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as in line with its continued initiative to create Magic products specifically for new players. In this case, the cooperative set is a unique product of decks that allow two players join forces to face a “Boss” deck that plays automatically.
The concept here that each Boss card grants unique powers to the creature cards included in the boss deck. Each Boss automatically casts one other card per turn, and players begin fighting {one Boss|
